Issues

  1. [Xubuntu]: When about to burn Xubuntu: Firefox download_complete window for a file ok.pl appears at the top left corner obscuring the first writers' status and the home icon. It had no close window icon and so could not be closed. Toaster had to be reset. After the reset I was however able to reuse the blank disc, reselect and write Xubuntu successfully.
  2. [Bottom drive unavailable]: The bottom writer did not have an icon available and so I was only able to write two discs at a time.
  3. [Don't use DVD for CD distro!?]: Another person arrived while I was using the first writer and attempted to write a standard Ubuntu CD distro to their new blank DVD. The 2nd writer wrote to it and turned it into an instant coffee coaster. I then directed them to choose the DVD version of Ubuntu and they put in another new blank DVD into the 2nd writer which appeared to work fine because it started writing normally to the disc showing percentage status.
  4. [Don't use scratched discs] Scratched CD-RW discs caused the Toaster to freeze for a minute or two during writing. The toaster doesn't verify after it has written so you will just waste your time and have to return at a later stage and use new discs. All new blank cheap Ever Lotus CD-R discs which I used worked flawlessly during installation.

Re: Issues

  1. The download dialog is a known toaster bug, and very hard to track down. We've pretty much given up on it. In this case, it was caused by the default version of xubuntu being feisty, which is no longer on the toaster. fixed.
  2. The bottom drive currently isn't working, and has been disabled.
  3. Thank you, good point. I'd have thought it might still work, though.
  4. Yes relatively obvious, I'd say. Same goes for fingerprints.
