DISCUSSION: Possible roles of CLUG/LEG in Shuttleworth Lab

This follows from a presentation and some talk at the 2010 CLUG AGM, which in turn came from the fact that UCT Science Faculty are taking responsibility for the longer term management. At the moment this means nothing more than budget for about 40 new machines and perhaps a tiny number of admin hours.

  • Organisational issues explores how to formalise the UCT/LEG/CLUG nexus for best running the lab.
  • Hardware is the place to suggest to UCT how to go beyond the 'all desktops are equal' paradigm for the lab.
  • Software is where we want to get together a the base server-client system, plus whatever else.
